re-capture not working

I right clicked on the media in the media bin area and clicked on re-capture all media offline but nothing happens. My video camera is connected to my cpu via firewire and I have the raw tape inside all ready to go. Am I missing a step?.

I also re-captured the raw footage and put it in a seperate folder just in case I have to re-edit the whole thing which I hope I don't need to. I also laid it on the timeline right next to the offline missing media so why does'nt Vegas 8 see that the original footage is there and make it online again?.

Just confused on this process.
Thanks.

Hopefully you turned of your virus protection when you recaptured.

Here's what I would do if I was you. I would keep using your original footage, except that anytime I got a crash during a waveform draw or render, I would replace the clip that crashed ith the equivalent clip from the new capture directory. Once you are secure that you have a directory full of clips without errors, you can get rid of the redundant clips.

In the future, always capture without virus protection or anything else running and you'll most likely be fine on all your new projects.
