Re: Having trouble with Titles

Can't seem to figure what I am ,or are not doing right when trying to impose a Text title over a video source. Most times I can not get rid of the black background of the text.I have made sure background color in properties is set down to alpha. And maybe, sometimes, when i set composition setting to add in the title track it works .
Help, anyone?

Which text preset are you using? If you choose one of the presets with the checkerboard background, you shouldn't have to do anything else. The checkerboard indicates transparent. Only the text itself will overlay the video tracks and the rest of the video will show through the background. There won't be any need to change compositing mode or alpha.

That is what puzzles me, I'm using the checkerboard background ones and I still get that black background. When it works, the text sometimes appears a bit transparent.
Thanks for your concern.

Sounds like you have the text on a track below the background track or on the same track. Needs to be on a track above your background.
Right click a blank area of the timeline and select add new track. Vegas always adds tracks to the top, but you can then drag them where you need. Hope that does it.

Chien, Craig, thanks to you both. Craig you got it, I was placing the Title on a lower track under the actual video source. Thanks for clearing that out.Should have read my manual in more detail.
