You will probably find all the information you want to know at http://www.dpreview.com. There you will find reviews, information, and forums on basically all of the digital cameras/printers/etc. that are out there - available or on the way.

Personally, I have the 5MP Sony F707 but the F717 model upgrade is available. I am quite please with my Sony. It is probably the best bang for the buck and if you like to zoom shots in VV you will appreciate the higher resolution.

Good luck,

Money and equipment count, but talent and concept prevail.
That being said, I'd definitely opt for the Epson series of printers, particularly the Epson 1280 or Epson 2200. These are far away the best of the lot available, and among the few with archival inks. (long lasting colors)
Camera - of course the big Nikon SLR's or the Olympus E20. Both of these have true Single Lens Reflex design, not electical viewfinders.
Photo editing software - Photoshop - non other even considered.
And I like what I consider the "Vegas" of still photo acquisition software, Film Factory by Epson. For $29 bucks you get a great cataloger, and a usable "Quicky Print" program.
