RE: Promotional emails, refunds, phone volume

SonyBP wrote on 4/19/2004, 11:44 AM
Hi all,

Just wanted to drop a brief note here and hopefully ease some minds regarding a few topics that have come up.

If you purchased Vegas 5 or Vegas+DVD before receiving the promotional email, we will definitely take care of you. We very much appreciate those who want to get the product ASAP and end up ordering before the promotions go out. Just contact Customer Service and we will take care of that refund for you.

For those who do not want to wait any longer for the emails to arrive, the special pricing is now available through this knowledge base article.

We have been experiencing heavier than average call volume today, and apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. We are working on better load balancing for our system, and should have the issues resolved shortly. If not by the end of today, this definitely shouldn't be an issue tomorrow.

Hope this helps answer some of the more general questions.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Marco,

We don't have a direct email address, instead everything goes through our support site at www.custcenter.com. Go there and click the "Submit Question to Customer Service" link at the top of the page.

One last question before buying the upgrade:

If I buy the boxed version am I sent the rego number via the web or email, so that I can also download and get going with Vegas5+DVD2 while I wait for the box to make its way to Australia?

Thanks,

Skevos,

Sorry, but it's just one or the other. If you purchase the boxed version you would need to wait for that to arrive in order to get your full serial number. However, you can download the trial version in the meantime and use that for 30 days while waiting. Unfortunately there is no MPEG/MP3/AC3 support in the trial due to licensing restrictions, so you would have to wait for your package to arrive in order to actually burn any DVD's, etc.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I can live without a box, printed quick start manual and colourful CD, so the download version it is! And I've gone for DVD2 as well - it looks like this version can do everything I need (I was waiting mainly for multiple audio tracks).

Thanks to everyone at Sony for all the amazing work on the upgrade and for keeping the prices amazingly low. Anyone remember those threads where people worried that Sony was going to add hundreds if not thousands to the price? :-)

All the best,

Skevos Mavros

That's odd....I installed the demo this morning and I am able to render out MPEG's with no problems.

Thanks guys! I hope all those calls are from people making new orders for V5!
TheHappyFriar wrote on 4/19/2004, 1:36 PM
Yeah, nice isn't it? No AC3 though. :)

Most likely cuz if you have V4 with a registered mpeg encoder it works for V5 too.
SonySCS wrote on 4/19/2004, 3:50 PM
Yes, Happy Friar you're correct: The mp3, mpeg, ... restrictions for trial software only apply to users who do not already have licenses.

I should add that DVD Arch is only available as a demo and it has more restrictions.

I can attest to this. I just spoke with a very nice lady at Sony, Theresa, and she was able to get me my serial numbers (that had not come through yet) and issue a credit for $50.

Thanks, Theresa!

SonyBP,
Sometime in the past, I think I removed myself from the email list for promotional offers, upgrades, etc.

As a registered user of Vegas and SoundForge, how do I get my name re-added to the email list so I can again receive these announcements?

Musicvid,

I believe you can re-subscribe to Sony promotional emails by editing your forum account. Look up to the links above.
