Re-Rendering in DVDA

I have a project that is 1:40 long - to long for a standard DVD. Since you cannot change the bitrate in Vegas Platinum before you render to MPG2, I am having to re-render in DVDA. Here is my question.

Since DVDA is re-rendering anyway, should I render it to an AVI file in Vegas rather than an MPG2, then import the AVI to DVDA? If I do this will it give me better overall quality since DVDA is re-rendering anyway?

Yes, allow dvd architect to render avi to fit.
This way you only render once.

What is your source video? Is it video from a MiniDV cam? If yes, then what jimmyz said.

Yes direct from a DV in AVI. I will do the AVI render and then import to DVDA.

Thanks for the advice!

What about for shorter length videos originating from dv tape? Should I be rendering in VMS as AVI and then allow DVDAS do its thing? I seldom have an entire project that is close to one hour. Thanks! Man, I'm always learning something on this forum!

A sl dvd will hold about 1 1/4 hour of video. When you don't have a complex menu. If you re-render in dvda it will take a long time and will affect video quality for the worse. Since you have aleady created a vob try running it through dvd shrink and see if the play quality is satisfactory. But in the future if you want to put an entire video onto a sl dvd then yes have dvda render from an avi.
