This has been discussed at great length with no resolution. I recommend you send a suggestion to SONY requesting this feature. When enough of us request it, they may consider adding it.

I think developement on this feature must have been set asside at some point. The answer I got from tech support was that it had been there as part of a backup strategy.

Sounds like users would like a choice of audio included in AVI files, separate audio in Wav format, or separate audio in w64 format.

BTW, WAV files are supposed to be limited to 2 GB. That's why they use the w64 file format. Still, I'd rather just have an AVI file.

Even still, 2GB allows for over 182 minutes of DV audio (48KHz 16bit stereo). When is the last time you trimmed an audio clip down to a length of over 3 hours in one of your projects?

David17,

Can you render those w64s to regular wavs? And them import those to your project? Tedious, yes, but thsi should work.

I agree that Vegas should provide an option to trim as w64 or wav.

Thanx everyone. I missed this when it hit the fan awhile back. Yes I will contact Dave and others to see if this can be an added feature. I just remember having my files changed to W64 and had some audio file probs after this in a project in the past. At least It seemed to cause a prob with the edit list. Yeah this needs to be worked out indeed.
Thanx again for the feedback guys/gals. ; )
