Re: VCD

Just thought I'd let you know that I finally got a VCD to play. It wouldn't play on a few cheap DVDs but my new Sony DAV-S800 played it with no problems.

Thanks to all those who offered their help:-)

A further question - but this time about SVCDs;

Can the above systemn play SVCDs? The manual doesn't say it does but, then again, some that say they play VCDs don't.

I have searched vcdhelp but it isn't listed - even under a search for just VCD.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated - as always.

Cheers

Why dont you just burn an SCVD on a CD-RW, and see for yourself ?

I found your player on vcdhelp.com. I dosn't look like it will do an SVCD, but I would go with the above suggestion and give it a shot anyway.

Take a look:

Even if your Player doesn"t plays SVCD"s you might be able to Fool your DVD Player into thinking the SVCD is actually a VCD..You do this by putting a VCD header on the SVCD file then you burn it to CD-R as a Xvcd or a Non-standard VCD..This method works most of the time as long as your dvd player can handle the higher bitrate and the increased Resolution..On My Cheapo DVD Player I can Play SVCD"s with a 704+480 resolution and a max bitrate of 6000KBS while useing VBR, and it can play VCD"s with the same bitrate and resolution so you could try doing XVCD"s too ..

Thanks for all the advice.

I will try a SVCD and see how it goes.
