Although the zoom f8 is reading the timecode in playback, in vp16 pro in the project media for imported f8 wav clips the in timecode is always zero so I guess not properly imported to v16.
Has anyone done this satisfactorily? Am I just wasting time trying?

Try importing via "File/Import/Broadcast Wave".
Thanks, this approach has correctly placed the files on the timeline. However, the project media "timecode in" is still zero. Think I can live with this! The data in the Broadcast wav import window is displayed correctly. On import, the following warning is displayed:-
"Date and/or time is different between Broadcast wav files.
Continue importing files?"
I suppose this is because the files were sequential on the same F8 track, not to do with date formats.

What exactly do you mean by "project media timecode"?
The 2 red circled wav files on the image were imported as Broadcast wav and were correctly placed on the time line. I doubt that I could have laid them out using multicam but I had no need to try. Please be aware that I have re-arranged the columns in Project Media. By default you would have to scroll to find it.
