It's an interesting idea, but I can't think of any FX parameters that really need to be recorded. Video FX is quite different from audio FX.
I prefer they to improve besier keyframe curve; add integrated tween curves for keyframes ; add curve motion path for PIP/pan crop/track motion.
I think keyframe ecording will not be better than improving these keyframe features. Realtime recording curve will not be smoother than these improvements. Just personal opinion.
It should work; I remember having used a MCU for realtime controlling of color correction. But I either forgot how to do it or the feature was dropped or it's a bug. I can't get the FX parameter envelope created anymore. Or my memory is playing tricks with me.

Yes, but with realtime it is easier.
And I like it a lot when in a video things are [start] moving/coloring/FX-ing synchronized with the beat of a song or with your own time-wishes [in music video's].
Therefor it would be great too to let the program automatically generate keyframes from audio peaks or from beats [from snare/kick/hihat].

It's a coincidence, for I had the same thought some days ago. I also have a vague memory that I have done this before.
FX automation would be handy, especially for those of us that use hardware controllers. You can achieve more natural looking results much faster than with keyframes. Keyframes will always have their place, though, as they are more accurate, when you need to get down to the frame-level.
