Reason to upgrade to 4.0 version e.?????

As long as I'm here, I may as well ask. I've had my arms full, with Vegas Video, since I bought it. I'm fairly new to computers and computer video editing and for a 'newbie', i'ts been a real learning experience, period. When I bought my Vegas, it was 4.0 version c. I've had no real problems with what I have. I just wonder if somebody might know what I'm missing by not upgrading to version e? As you can see, I'm afraid of any changes, unless there's a real obvious reason that makes it worth while

Hiyah!

Have you read this?Vegas Release Notes for V4e

See any reason for NOT going straight to "e" from "c"? The question you might ask is what was it in D that you are missing out on in C - yeah? Becasue these would have been included and then tweaked in E .. yeah? Good point? - I seem to remember that D over C had something going for it, some 24 "fixes" and improvements - E had 4 .. others can pitch in. So, staying with C you are missing out on some 24 "improvements" . . but it is your call .. . See if you getting the "bugs" in C that are improved in D and then think on - yeah? if you are getting these bugs then the update is a no-brainer .. . if you don't go near these things then . . .

Best regards,

Grazie

Wow. Thank you, Grazie. I wonder why I didn't run across those release notes. It did sort of cover all the versions in the link you left. I'm in the middle of a big project and I'm afraid to make the change until I'm done. But, I will. If anyone had something change that they didn't like, when they updated, please tell me that too. Thanks again.......STEVE

Pleasure!

NO DON'T do updates while in a poject - GOOD man .. no, niet, nada, Zero ..

Tell you what Steve, you MADE me read and review the improvements to V5 a>b .. wow! If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have read them. . I tend to "crash" on with the work and if the bug is fixed I just don't even notice it . . I know that is bad form on my side . . I'm gonna post a BIG kiss to Sony for something they did on my one particular "Bug" discovery ..

Yeah, the place to keep abreast is here and other great fora ( is that the correct plural? ) devoted to our FAB s/w!

I'm off to do soime more 3D-ing Track Motion for a client .. oh you don't have that do you? - - he he he he .. just pulling yah legs here .. oooohhh I'm such a tease . . think about V5 ... It IS greeeeat fun .. .

Grazie

ps . . I went from V4a ( I think ) straight to D .. I left out B and C .. but I diodn't do E .. the fixes went relevant for me - and as they say, "If it aint .. " etc etc etc . .. .

On my income, I have to stay with 4e. I still have plenty to learn anyway.

Version V5 only runs on XP or Win2k. If you haven't got either it would also mean an UG to your OS - yeah? And if you're under specked on your Hardware - XP takes up C: drive space, so more HD there too! The features in V5 - RAM render - benefit from more and fast RAM too! I was running V4d on WinMisEry, on a 1ghtz with 256 RAM, it worked, I made money from it and had "happy" clients.

You take your time and do what you do - be happy!

Best regards,

Thanks Grazie,
Everything in my computer works well. My only problem is not being able to go beyond the 4 gigabyte limit. (I assume this is why version 5 needs either Win 2K or XP) This means I have to divide my DVDs into two chapters, if it's longer than 4 Gigs. I've also learned how to 'Rip' my own DVDs and re-author them so they will play all at once with only a slight hesitation/delay between the chapters. Yes, Windows ME is my 'achilles heel'. Everything else: P4 2.4 Ghz, 768 RAM, Audigy2Plat, Nvidea 4200, 1-80 Ghz HD & 1-40 Ghz HD, blah, blah... I really don't have any problems with ME, except when I have to admit that I'm using it. I haven't had anything better yet and what I don't know doesn't bother me. I could have moved up to XP, but I'm still fairly new to computers and don't want to go through the headache, yet, of learning a new system. Especially, as I said, since I don't know what I'm missing. (except the 4Gig limit)
