Recognising scanned images

I am currently creating a slideshow using a variety of photographic images - mainly from cameras, but need to input several from scanned sources. These are of the form *.BMP and are created using a Canon scanner but don't seem to be recognised although the image outline appears in the Project Media Bins. I am using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9. The images are visible in the Windows library folder before attempting to transfer to the project. Can anyone please comment.

The smartest and easiest solution would be to save the scans as JPEGs or TIFs, which the program will definitely recognize.

Though I'm surprised the program is having trouble with RGB BMPs. What's the size (measured in pixels) of these BMPs? It could be that a higher resolution is challenging your computer, particularly since you are using an older, 32-bit version of Movie Studio.

Thanks Steve. I changed the scanning device and now have the rouge images in *.jpg format and all is well. Strangely there are other images in the project with *bmp format and these seem OK. Thanks again. JohnD
