Hi, I cannot find where to set it so that the default for every mpeg and other video file used in DVD-A is set to "yes" for "recompress." Am I missing it, and if so where? Thank you.
May I ask why you want to recompress? Normally people ask how to stop recompressing (it takes time and loses quality).
The way DVDA works is if you have compliant formats, as listed in the manual, then it won't recompress, otherwise it will recompress. There is no setting - it is automatic.
Recompressing because a larger file needs to fit on the disc - although that also turned out not to be entirely correct given, as I've learned, DVD-A's misreporting of the final size.
I did find it, what I am referring to is file/optimize disc, and where, for the video in question, it indicates if the file may be recompressed; mpgs are set by default to not recompress no matter what size you are trying to fit. Thanks for asking and sorry for the late reply, missed this until now.
Actually, MPEGs often DO recompress in DVD Architect, zornwil.
They recompress when they are too long for a DVD (i.e., over 70 minutes or so) and they recompress when they are not of the same frame rate, frame size, etc., for a DVD.
