Recompressing 5.1 audio problem? - FIXED!

mw3330 wrote on 9/29/2014, 2:37 AM
I am completely stuck with this. I have a surround project created in Vegas Pro 12 that renders perfectly and creates a surround BluRay disc that sounds great when burned from Vegas Pro. When I take the rendered file into DVD Architect Pro 6 so I can add menus, the resulting BluRay disc has a loud buzz and none of the original soundtrack.

It seems that DVDA recompresses the audio on the basis that the "media is not compliant with the disc format". Clearly this is not true since Vegas has no problem burning a good disc.

It seems that recompressing a pre-rendered 5.1 file is causing a problem.

Any suggestions welcome.
Source file: AVCHD 1920x080i-50i 5.1 Surround
Original audio: 48KHz, 24Bit, 5.1

DVDA should not re-compress if you chose the right template in Vegas when you rendered the audio. In any case, re-compression should not cause a buzz. At worst you might hear a slight drop in quality.

Something seems to be wrong with DVDA. Try un-installing and re-installing DVDA, preferably using version 5.2 if you have it, since 6 is known to have some bugs.

This happened to me once with the same type of AVCHD file; when I changed the properties to AC3-5.1 surround (which I had set wrongly) and then reinserted the media file, the problem was fixed. Good luck on this! I agree that 5.2 seems less bug free and I generally use this version but plan to install the 6.0 237 and try it out.

Thanks for the input. I am using DVDA 6/ 237 and don't have a license for DVDA 5. I guess I will have to keep trying until I can find a combo that works.

"5.2 seems less bug free"

Did you mix two thoughts? "5.2 seems less buggy" and "5.2 seems more bug free"?

I'm not getting all the details, but there seem to be a number of misconceptions here.

-- Do not import an AVCHD file into Architect! Two files are to be rendered in Vegas Pro:
1. An .avc file using the DVD Architect BluRay Video Template appropriate to your source.
2. An .ac3 DVD Template audio file using the Dolby Digital Pro Encoder, approprate to your source (5.1). Set DRC to -31.

-- Import the video file into Architect menu tree using "Import Media." The audio file will follow. The preview will be stereo; the disc will be 5.1. Do not drag your movie media to the Menu Timeline. That's the wrong place!

Thanks musicvid10
You are indeed a Rock Star!

I did as you guided and it worked perfectly first time. Thank you so much. After days of slogging at this I can get on with the creative stuff now!

Having the same problem, just hear noise beep after being burned into blu-ray.

Where is that "Import Media" option to ensure that audio follows?.

Is this right way?

I guess he meant "Insert > Media":
