I record with Vegas Pro and a Delta 1010. When I record tracks at 24 bit setting, they turn out to be 32 bit. then, 32 bit won't work in sound forge. Whats up with that?

Vegas 1.0 uses the audio hardware format. Many audio cards don't support 24 bit packed audio. They instead support 24 bit in 32 bit carrier which is refered to as 24 bit unpacked. Some cards only support 32 bit, though they are recording only 24 bits of data. Depending on the audio card, you will get either 24 bit packed/unpacked or 32 bit. Vegas 2.0 fixes this file issue by converting what the audio hardware records at into 24 bit packed data.
