Recording audio in preview mode?

For some reason my computer does not like Vegas any more. I have re-installed and repaired Vegas about 10 times and it still will not allow me to print to tape.

Is there ANY way to preview the video AND record the audio as you view on an external monitor? I'm in a pinch and have to get this project finished. As of now I can only get my audio to come out of my compter speakers and not an external source, but the video will.

Thanks,
D

If you are previewing from the timeline to an external device, audio will only come out from your designated computer audio ports, and video will come out via firewire.
You must use the print to tape command to get audio to come out via firewire. If you de-select "Enable DV Control" while doing print to tape, then in essence it's the same as previewing, (nothing will happen at the recorder), but the firewire stream with both video and audio will be present. Of course, you will probably have to render some or all of the timeline as a normal part of print to tape operations.
Can you give more info on why you cant print to tape?
