Recording Audio with music tracks

Hi, I have been trying to record audio, with my music track to make a slide show and my sound is distorted...either my voice is heard and my music is low or vice versa...my audio setting are fine, and my mic is working for everything else! Can someone please help...i have tried all software and I can't get anything done! Thanks

When you are recording make sure the levels are in a reasonable range. You should be hitting somewhere between -1 and -18dB on the meters. Anything above 0dB is distorted and anything below -18dB may be noisy and will take too much correction.

There are volume sliders for each track on the left side of the screen in Vegas and ACID. You can use these to set the overall level for each track, so you can reduce the volume of one and raise the other or vice versa.

For finer control that changes from time to time you can add a volume envelope. Select an audio track and press V. A thin blue line appears running through the entire track. You can double-click on the line to add points called 'nodes'. You can add as many as you like and drag them up and down to adjust the volume from one point to the next.
