Recording Default Settings

I have a couple questions...when recording vocals

1) If I open a track to view the plugins, there are 3 there by default, should I leave those all there and not touch them? Or is there a better setting I should use or blah blah bla....?

2) The mic I have doesn't filter out any bass out of the voices (I know some dynamic mics have this)...can someone recommend a chain I can setup on each vocal track before recording, to work DURING recording? Or isn't this possible?

The default processing items do work "during" recording, but nothing is EVER printed-to-tape so to speak. It's a good thing. You might regret it later.

You could add the sony Paragraphic EQ to your default chain and set it to the 80Hz roll-off which works well. After adding this plug to the chain, right click on the track and set it to default.

So if I add that and hit record, it's not going to pickup anything 80hz or less?

Or it still will record just like normal, then take out the 80 and below afterwards?

The latter – Vegas will record the signal exactly as it is and will not apply anything to it until you are playing back. In Vegas you are always applying efx to the track (event) – not to the input signal. You will need to use outboard gear to process the incoming signal if that's what you wish to do.

So I need to buy a mixer with EQ and route the mic through it before it goes into the sound card?
