Recording sound off DVD

Got a friend that wants to use closing credits soundtrack off a movie on a commercial DVD for a part of his wedding. I play the DVD in my laptop PC with a cable from the headphone jack going to the line in of my Blaster card in my desktop. Vegas4.0d doesn't "see" the audio signal...yet it plays through the desktop speakers.
Any thoughts on how to record this?

Hello

U should use a dvd extraction program it will be faster and U will not ruine the quality passing by you sound blaster card. (neodivx for example)
For your input problem check :
- in Vegas preferences check if u use the right sound card
- in the window monitor control check if u have selected the right input (its a hell of a mess with windows --> options --> record and check the line input and becarefull of the level)
- check your cable and the out level of your dvd player
- check that you are in the right input of your sound card.

With all this u should be there
