Sorry to hear its not working out for you Arthur. I know the external preview monitor currently only works with Decklink and AJA cards which gives you a proper HDSDI video out for pro calibrated monitors. I too would like this work with an existing windows display (would look real nice on my 3rd display). Hopefully they will do that.
I don't find this a major problem personally, i just use the preview window supplied.
I think its a wonderful plugin for effect grading. Good luck, hope you get some use out of it or maybe just a refund. Either way.

Paul.

How can you be accurate using a PC monitor if your final output is to a TV? Having nosed around their FAQ's (which I shudda done first LOL) They're well proud of themselves for 'listening' and introducing AJA etc. Seems a huge hole for a colourisation programme to have even started out with - let alone this far down the line! I will force myself to use it Paul, but locking down the host seems a really clunky way about doing things - sort of half-a-plug-in. Or is that 'Arthur-plug-in :-) As I said though it might build on me.

"How can you be accurate using a PC monitor if your final output is to a TV"..
yes things could be better, agreed.

In my case, i grade (or style) using the preview display in MBL to get the 'look' i want. Then after closing the MBL display, fine tuning (like legal levels etc) in the normal way using Vegas's preview full screen on the grading monitor. So i guess i'm using MBL more for effect style grading rather than primary correction grading. I just do that in Vegas.

Now if they got the preview to work as a windows display, that would be perfect. We live in hope.

What i do like best about MBL is the looks it can produce are really organic, real looking, and totally customizable, and GPU accelerated. The presets are great as starting points but when you start getting into the internals you quickly realise what it can do. MBL has been the de facto grading plugin for years. Mainly in apple FCP and PPro. People just love it for its look.

Hope this helps. BTW, i have no connection with MBL! I just like it.
Would be interesting know how others are using it in their workflow.

I finally got Vegas Pro 11 working fairly well, by using the Compatibility Mode trick, but I just purchased Magic Bullet Looks 2.0 and every time I apply it to a track...
FREEZE! Not just a short or even lengthy freeze, a permanent 5+ hour freeze.

The Video Event FX window will start to open, some of the control panel starts to appear and then everything gets stuck. I have to start the Task Manager to get end the program.

Anyone else having problems with this?

Leee,

I don't know if this is what you are experiencing, but Vegas will "freeze" when you click to "Edit" MB Looks. This is (in my understanding) because Vegas hands off to MB Looks and waits for MB Looks to hand it back to Vegas. The hand-back occurs when you click on the "Finished" (don't know if this is the right name, as I'm not at my workstation right now) or "Cancel" button in Looks.

Now, you've said that the freeze occurs when you apply MB Looks to a track. I've not had that happen ever, so the above might not be helpful.

Well, full marks to Red Giant. They refunded me in full no questions asked. (well, just 'why' did I not like the programme). Result.
