Red Komodo support

The first Red Komodo cameras are out and production is expected to ramp up in July. I tried a sample Komodo r3d in Vegas Pro17, does not work. Back in the early days of Red, Vegas was one of the first NLE's to support Red files. Now Premiere Pro already supports Komodo files. Can we hope that Vegas will soon update the Red SDK they use and VP17 will soon support Komodo files?

Premier Pro has just released a 14.3 update to support this file format only around three days ago, So slow down on the dramatics..... Vegas R3D Decoder will very soon be updated to support this new Red format as well.

It is situations like this where VegasPro can't compete. Both Premiere and Resolve release new versions of their software based on the new development kits released by Red on the 11th of June. Magix doesn't operate like that, they are too small.

Steve, I'd like to hope you have knowledge re this, but the history of Vegas on this is unfortunately not good. After being one of the first NLE's to support Red when R3d files came out, when Red released the Dragon, it took Vegas about two years to support it, I think this was about VP13 or so. I even emailed someone high up (not Gary) and the response was a noncomital sort of we'll try and get to it, no guarantee. I even got in touch with Jared Land, president of Red back then who emailed me that he had a soft spot for Vegas and would like to help them if there were issues. Eventually Vegas did support Dragon, maybe it was the first Magix version, I can't recall now. Vegas still does not support Dragoncolor 3, and for all I know maybe still does not support Red DSMC2 cameras, released maybe 5 years ago. Unfortunately for a serious use, high end software which is trying to compete with Premiere, Resolve, Final cut, Edius etc, waiting months/years for new cameras to be supported is not acceptable.

There was a recent (couple of months ago) thread re BlackMagic Raw support, don't know if that has happened yet either.

The prices of capable cameras are coming down, I predict the Red Komodo will sell well and believe Blackmagic has already sold lots of cameras. People using these cameras are people Magix should be desiring to get as customers.

I'd love for someone from Magix to chime in
