If an audio and video pair turn pink, it means you have them out of synch. One has moved away from the other -- maybe even by just a microscopic amount.

If you haven't done this on purpose, then you can resynch them by right-clicking on one of the events (the audio, for example) and selecting "Synchronize..." then select "by moving" or "by slipping".

"By Moving" would be the most common fix for simple videos. It will slide the whole audio event on the timeline as needed to make it line up with the video event. Often, this might be a miniscule amount -- maybe just a frame or two. You might not even see the difference.

"By Slipping" will resynch the audio by leaving the start/stop points of the event exactly where they are on the timeline, but sliding the contents forward or backward within the event as needed to resynch to the video.

I'm pretty sure this feature has been around since VMS 6.

Excellent! You're absolutely right. I did intentionally ungroup the audio from the video track but didn't realize the subtle red tint was alerting me to this fact! Nice...thanks a lot for the info. I learn something new in Vegas everytime I do a project almost.

This wa a helpful thread but it didn't come up on my forum search (had to find it manually) because I think the editing track color looks more pink than red, so here's some additional verbage to get searched for. Thanks for the fix - worked for me too.
