Hey pipe, spdif toslink is compatable with adat lightpipe. It will show up as input one and two, plug it in and try it.

Im trying and it doesnt like the adat in. I am running software version 3.55

if I send adat 1 out as spdif it seems to work but not as adat. Are there more settings I need to make?

I cant find anything about the dsp-1 in the mck manual

Sorry Pipe, I know spdif out to lightpipe works, but the other way, doubtful. What are you doing for clocking?

There are 2 kinds of lightpipe connections.
1. Toslink-8channel
2. Spdif-2 channel

Toslink is like cold mentioned, the same as ADAT lightpipe. This connection runs 8 outputs, or 8 inputs, there usually are 2 available on a device, one that says input and the other says output. You cannot run the spdif 2 channel type into the toslink. Some devices like the Echo Layla has this lightpipe connection, where you can change it between toslink mode(8channel) or spdif (2channel) mode, which is usually switched through the driver on your PC. The spdif lightpipe connections are the same data format as Coax/RCA spdif type digital connections. If you have 1 device that is spdif lightpipe and another device that is spdif coax type, you can connect them, but you will need to buy a seperate small adapter, that will convert coax spdif to lightpipe spdif.

Hope that answers your question,
Red

I think so ?
So I can NOT send adat lightpipe to the M5000's lightpipe looking inputs?
