Reducing background sound level during commentary

Keihal wrote on 6/11/2014, 4:52 AM
I'm adding commentary to a recording, by adding the commentary to the music track.
(1) is that the best way to do this?
(2) How do I reduce the original soundtrack volume for the duration of the commentary? I can see how to reduce the original volume over an entire clip, but can't find a way to change the level within a clip.
Thx - Keith.

Right click on the original sound track and add a 'insert envelope < volume'. By double clicking on the line, you can add pairs of blocks and then drag down the volume according to wish.

Right clicked but can't find 'insert envelope < volume' , where should I look? I'm using Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0.

Thx

It can also be found in the Insert menu at the top of the screen.
