reformatting

I've been authoring for a few months now and a reformat is in order. In the past, I had DSL and there were never trouble with reconnecting, I just launched the modem and I was back on. I recently switched to Cable and this will be my first format since switching over. Will I have to re-enter the network settings like the cable guy did upon installation? The reason I ask here is when I asked my tech support person, he said, "uh, that's a good question, I have to ask a supervisor and get back with you.

If you reformat, you are wiping all your settings and all of your other data.

Gone. Not there. Not to be seen again. A Dead parrot.

I got into contact with a computer friend. He said that it's the same as DSL, once you register the modem the operating system will continue to synch up with the modem, so I don't have to input anything else.
