Regions copy-paste: keep titles as events?

I'm currently doing a massive copy-paste of different Regions into a single VEGgie but when I export this way, the regions don't keep their names.

More explanations:

Here's the way it all went:
I transfered five Hi8 tapes with no "clip detection" available so had 5 very long clips on T/L.
I put Markers on the different sequences I wanted to keep, not worrying about the cuts or different shots there was inside these sequences. What mattered to me was the **sequences**...
I ran the Script "Markers to Regions", the titles got retained from the formerly Markers points. From there, I could export the Regions...
I'm now copy-pasting these newly crated Regions to another VEGgie, each track representing a different topic for my editing (or story).
The problem is that the Regions exported this way don't become a new "media" so in Properties, I have for example "XYZ Clip 001" for everything, every Region that was on tape 1.
I'd like to know if there is a script that could resolve this problem by creating "Events" from "Regions" (or is that science fiction?)

If you have Vegas 6, you might be able to use nested VEG files instead of the copy/paste approach.

I have some really old scripts, written by someone else, that will delete everything except the stuff within regions. I think that is what you are trying to do with the copy/paste (i.e., you want to end up with the "good stuff"). You can then save that as a new VEG file and then use VEG files on the timeline to combine from the various different projects.

In re-reading your post, you want to put things on different tracks. My ideas may not help.

One fixup that sometimes helps is to use the Edit Details view. You can copy and paste data between views and use this to automatically assign names to markers or regions.

Unfortunately, I run V5d.

I'll look at the Edit Details view possibility. Thanks John.

How about the "Extract Good Clips" tool in Excalibur?

I designed it to pull out segments I had selected as "good" to a new track after which I simply delete the original video. It can do it as standard copies of the clip (i.e. you can expand beyond the areas you selected) or as sub-clips.
