Registry cleaner software along for the ride?

I finally took the latest offer to upgrade to v15 from v13. During the installation I was prompted to also install some registry cleaner that was part of the installation package. As a general rule I never install or use this kind of software and was dismayed that Magix would include it as part of the installation. This is the kind of behavior I would expect from a sketchy download site, not from a company that I just purchased a product from. I don't remember Sony ever distributing any software with their installations that was not directly related to video production.

I think it was the Magix product. I've never had a need for such a product and it bothers me that I would be prompted to install a product that has nothing to do with my Vegas purchase.

At least you were prompted. You probably got Magix Connect installed without even a prompt or notification.

I'm wondering what this "registry cleaner" actually is. Is it a version of MAGIX PC Check & Tuning? Simplitec is a VR software firm that Magix acquired a few months ago.
