Removing an unwanted timestamp from preview window / rendered output

Michael-5721 wrote on 2/15/2019, 9:41 AM

I have Vegas Pro 16, sometimes it inserts an timestamp and sometimes it does not. Where is the preference that allows me to switch it off? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Michael.

I think that timestamp comes from your camera. Switch it off there.

There are cams you can switch it off after making that file.

Make sure the 'Vegas Timecode' plug-in has not been added to any of the tracks, master or preview.

If it's not, the camera is generating it.

Back in the videotape days, we used to call this a "TC window burn" which was usually added for a temporary time/location for editing (EDL).

Thanks RRaud, this was the problem as you suggested it was the Fx timecode. So happy, Cheers Michael

Hi J-V, a really good question, I asked because at the time of asking, I did not know the answer and was seeking the guidance from somebody able to provide a really intelligent and helpful response. I am new at this and I am sure you will appreciate that. Have a really nice day Michael

Like many of us, who don't have your years of experience j-v, he was probably trying different FX not realising exactly what they involved, and probably forgot he added it. I've done it. Maybe you haven't.

@j-v : Rumsfeld, my hero. Here’s a variant of the philosophy:

”There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don't know.”

TAXI!

Oh! I just noticed that our chum here ALSO had the FX Bypass selected, which should’ve removed that TC. BUT, it would only have been removed IF all or the Right Side had been Selected. There other Variants. But I do feel our friend had attempted to remove some or ALL the FXs. Phew..... 😅
