removing extreme FX

I'm about 3 weeks into learning Sony Vegas 12. When I drag video clips into the Trimmer they look normal. But, when I drag the same, or any other video clips, into my "current" project in the Timeline it looks like the contrast and the saturation have been changed drastically. This does not occur if I drag a clip into a newly openedTimeline, nor does it happen when I drag a clip into a Timeline containing one of my other projects.

I closed Vegas and restarted my computer. The problem persists.

I've searched the web, but can't find anyone who is discussing this subject.

BTW... this is my first time using this forum... so be gentle.

Thanks

Your current project probably has either track effects or output effects already added to it. Do the clips already on the timeline show the same problem?

Thanks Chienworks for your response.

I have used a variety of video FX on other clips in this 60 second project, if that's what you mean by track and/or output effects.

This happens regardless of which new clip I choose to drag to the timeline.

It does not happen when I try dragging a clip into any other project. Just this one project. I've tried placing the clip on its own video track and also within other video tracks, but get the same result.

And, I've recently edited other short projects where video FX were applied to various clips without encountering this problem

Other clips, which were added to the timeline previously, in the same project, are not effected by this anomally.

It seems to have occured at some point after I last saved the project.

There are four places where you may have effects active. They are all signified by little green boxes, except the project Media effects, which is in the context menu.

The media Event.
The video Track.
The video Output.
The project Media.

Look for the green boxes and disable the effects in each.

Thanks "musicvid10"; it's obvious you spent some time on your responce. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but it seems that I'm shooting, editing and learning at the same time. Here's where I'm at now.

"The Problem" - clip number MVI_2627.mov - TRYING TO REMOVE ALL FX THAT APPEAR WHEN THIS CLIP IS DRAGGED TO THE
TIMELINE:

I see the little GREEN BOXES in your clip, but there are no little green boxes on any of my video clips, either in the left column of the timeline nor do they appear on the right side of my video clips; ALL the boxes in my video clips are white. However, in the SOUND CLIPS the boxes are GREEN.

I opened a new SV program and dragged the clip to time line. No FX appeared. I dragged in BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST, and the little green box appeared on the right end of the clip. If I right click on that green box and CHOOSE DELETE ALL, the FX
disappear. Therefore I can see how this all should work.

My issue seems to be that when I apply VIDEO FX on this program the white boxes do NOT turn green and I have no opportunity to remove those FX.

Obviously, I made a basic adjustment somewhere that precipitates
this problem.

This program envolves a lot of teadious synching of picture and sound so I'd hate to have to start all over.

I'd appreciate any sugestions.

As always.... thanks for you help.

So, I opened a new SV and dragged the clip to time line. No FX appeared. Hmmm... I know that if I drag the clip into the program that I'm editing, the

FX will appear.

Wow! Sorry for the lengthy discription on my last post. I continued to play around with all the possibilities and the problem seems to have sorted itself out.. the green boxes reappeared.

Of course I don't know what the root cause was. But I've been using Photoshop for years and sometimes you just have to keep on click'n until something works. That seems to work equally well in SV.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.
