Thank you for your quick reply. I see that Mercalli v4 supports DJI Phantom 2 Vision, DJI Phantom 2 Vision+, max. GoPro Hero 4. So these are the obsolete devices. Have you tested jello removal for DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 or GoPro Hero 6-7 by Mercalli v4?

I've only got GoPro Hero Black 5 so far which has been used handheld via a handheld screw-on handle. Mercalli is very good at stab etc, but there is often still a bit of jello in the corners of the frame. Nonetheless, it is a huge improvement on the original footage. Having said that, GoPro 7 has been promoted as a huge improvement on 5/6, and I'll be considering it later this year though 8 might hopefully be out by then.

What type of drone footage do you have with jello? I've flown Phantom 2's with a Hero 4 and Phantom 4's with the DJI cam and don't have a problem with jello. I can see where high speed through a forest might produce jello. Even though the drone footage is normally very stable I still run it through the Mercalli 4 stand alone app which applies the CMOS filter before the stabilization.

I have DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2. I was flying last weekend over the cemetery when the wind was blowing high. Maybe that was the problem, because this wind disturbed stability and maybe that`s why jello effect appeared. I will try to fix some shots up with Mercalli 4.

i have been flying and filming with drones for years. first step is to tune the drone to get rid of vibrations and then balance motors and props. if that does not work i have been using Mercalli  for years and it really helps but adds a lot of time to post

Do you suggest that gimbal calibration can help? It is a new drone (no more than 20 flights), so props are balanced I supposed. How can I balance motors? Do I need to send the drone to DJI service?

which dji? a gimbal should remove all jitters and jello. you should really look on then dji forums as there is a lot to learn to get jello free video, software can not really take of it although Mercalli does wonders

I have got a DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2. Maybe the problem also was that I have probably set very short shutter time and I didn`t use ND filters to extend time. I was filming on D-Log with locked ISO 500. ISO 500 could have set very short shutter speed i.e. 1/1000 sec which is the not so good and can cause jello effect.

I would try to improve this by using the VirtualDub Deshaker filter via the AviDub script in Happy Otter Scripts. There's a demo video here. I suggest you start with one of the "Deshaker-max-....vdcript" VirtualDub filter settings files in C:\ProgramData\HappyOtterScripts\VirtualDub FilterSettings Then in the Deshaker parameters, which appear after you click "Render" in AviDub (if you check the "Edit Deshak" box), you can enter the rolling shutter percentage for your camera. So you'll have to find out what it is, or go by trial and error. There are some rolling shutter percentages on the Deshaker page linked above, but the list doesn't include DJI cameras.

I second using Mercalli 4 and have had some success with that. Yes, your shutter speed should be double your frame rate, so you get the right amount of motion blur. I know some people use shutter speed as an exposure control but best to use ND filters for that. You can get rolling shutter on a lot of cameras and the only way to really prevent it outside of a global shutter is moving slowly and smoothly. You can always speed the shots up in post if you need. I have a $2,000 A7S and can get horrible rolling shutter if I don't move smoothly and slowly on some shots. Also, even new props can require rebalancing. It does make a surprising difference. Dubro makes a nice rebalancer. Best way I've found is to use finger nail polish on the underneath side on the very end of prop blade. Some people like to sand them. But I think it is better to add than take away. Just some thoughts.

Use ND filters and shutter speed about 1/50 1/100

1) do you mean using ND filters even on cloudy autumn daily weather outside i.e. on 1 pm o`clock ?
2) I am afraid of that ND filters will generate more noise on my video. Do you have experience with noise while using ND filters?
3) Do I have to icrease ISO to get better results while using ND filters?

4) Do I really need to use ND filters or maybe use manual settings without mounting ND filters and set shutter speed to 1/50 or 1/100 and not set too much value for shutter speed ? What is the better solution?

I agree with Karma that moving slowly is very important. I noticed a lot of the jello in your clip occurred when you were rotating the camera up or down. It's also very easy to rotate the drone too quickly and induce jello. I always use ND filters and frequently fly slow and then speed things up in post using twixtor.

Just read about filters. They not that "bad" as you think. If you use ND8 or 16, you still can set shutter 1/50 or 1/100 with f/4 - f6.3 with lowest ISO setting.

I don't know if GoPro has full manual settings (but it should, because has "pro" in name :) ). I fly with Phantom 4A and there is everything. Also if you know more about filming, check filmuser.pl .

I have got ND-CP filters (I mean with polarization).

Will they be good with eliminating jello effect or I should purchase normal ND filters?
Does ND-CP generate much noise than ND filters with the same settings? I know that ND-CP eliminate flashes from water, but maybe they can do more, that's why I ask you.

Concerning ND filters: In your video you can clearly see that the Jello-effect gets worse the more light there is in the motive.

So, as Radomir writes: in order to avoid the video-noise you could set the ISO low - to i.e. 100 - and keep it there while you change ND filters (or use a Pol-filter) to keep the shutter speed at or below 1/100.

I have removed jello issue from my drone video successfully. I mean not the video I have mentioned earlier, but new one. I have used ND8 Polar Pro filter. Before the flight I autocalibrated gimbal.

I also want to add that wind was blowing 15 meters/s, so it was a high wind, but it didn`t have impact on the video and jello issues. ND8/CP filter did a good job.

If you're shooting in log often the minimum ISO is high which necessitates ND filers. I use up to ND 32 just to avoid some of the issues addressed here. Get good filters and you'll be okay. I use Polar Pro and Tiffin and both give good results.
