Render a AVCHD Disc from DVDA Studio

So I have a High-Def Sony Camcorder and I have Vegas Studio 9 Pro Platinum that came bundled with DVDA Studio 4.5. I am looking for a way to render the DVDA Studio project to AVCHD, but I can't figure it out.

I have read the posts about the differences between studio and pro, and I am willing to upgrade to DVDA Pro, but one poster noted that DVDA Pro5.0 only worked with vegas Pro and not the studio version.

I don't think Sony would bundle a product that would require you to give up the HD content to add menus and buttons, but that seems to be my choice. I can render a AVCHD disk from Vegas studio, but I like the look that the menus add from DVDA Studio.

I would really like to keep my HD content and add the menus from DVDA Studio if possible.

I appreciate any help that can be offered!

You can not burn a hi-def BluRay disc from DVD Architect Studio, Jay.

Whatever video you put into it, it comes out as standard DVD video.

It's not a matter of DVDA Pro "working" with the studio version. It's just that you can't buy DVDA Pro without buying Vegas Pro. As far as using it, DVDA has no dependency on Vegas whatsoever -- Pro nor Studio.

DVD Architect Studio does exactly what it claims -- it authors DVDs. The DVD format does not support HD content. That has nothing to do with what Sony does or doesn't require -- that's simply the nature of the DVD format.

To produce a disc with menus and buttons and HD contet, you need to create a Blu-Ray disc, something that is, frankly, still mostly used by professionals. So, in order to create them, you need DVD Architect Pro.

I would really like to keep my HD content and add the menus from DVDA Studio if possible.

For reasons stated above, it's not possible. Sorry.

Thanks for the post. I get that I will not be able to use DVDA Studio to burn a HD DVD.

The reason for my confusion is in VMS9 I am able to burn HD content to a standard DVD (AVCHD), and it is recognized by my Blu-ray player, I just don't get the benefit of the nifty menus and scene selections from DVDA.

I wasn't trying to slam Sony, I love the product. The Point I was trying to make was that if VMS9 can burn a AVCHD formatted video on a standard DVD for playback in a BR player then you would think for consistency that the accompaning DVDA software would have the same burning capabilities of the vegas product it came with.

The difference is that Vegas is just creating a data disc with a file on it. It's plain, it's simple, it's semi-universal. (I say semi-universal, 'cause I don't think all Blu-ray players will be able to figure out what to do with that disc. But some will.) You could get the same thing by rendering the file and dropping it into Nero or some other run of the mill DVD burning app.

DVD Architect is creating something much more complex. It's not just "burning" a disc, as you say. It's authoring a DVD -- and in doing so, it must adhere to a whole slew of rules and specifications regarding how the files have to be structured, what kind of instructions (for the player) need to be included, and what file formats are allowed. With these rules and specifications in mind, it creates menus, subpictures, chapters, and commands needed to make your DVD work properly in a DVD or Blu-ray player.

And one of the rules for that DVD is: No HD content.

That is why DVD Architect will not create what you're asking -- and neither will any other DVD authoring app, to the best of my knowledge.
