Yesterday, while rendering a movie to mpg2, I discovered a problem with the audio track. Since the entire (video + audio) render of the 01:58:30:24 long movie takes approximately 6 hours and because there was no problem with the video portion, I figured, what the heck, lets's just render the audio portion. FWIW, in Vegas 4.0b this takes about 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
However, the resulting problem is that a render to the Main Concept mpeg2 format whilst specifying "audio" only, i.e. I deselect the video check box after selecting the save as elementary streams - i.e. forcing the program to create a separate .m2v file for the video portion and an .mpa for the audio protion (there being no save as .mpa option) results in the file being rendered at 44.1k instead of the specified 48k. Unfortunately, ReelDVD requires all the audio to be in the same format and don't suggest using the DVD portion of Vegas (which I bought) as it's inadequate for our level of work (for too many reasons to enumerate at this time).
Thinking the problem was perhaps addressed in the 4.0c update, I performed that brief task but alas, the problem still exists (though now the render of audio-only takes 5:00 instead of the previous 4:30 . . . for whatever reason).
This is terrible as now a trivial repair forces a waste of 6 hours instead of a few minutes!
Is there a work around or am I screwed? Anybody up at this un-Godly hour? This project is due today and I've been up all night messing around with this and now am forced to conclude my speediest resolution is a complete re-render . . . yes, 6 hours which places me perilously close to deadline :>(
