Render crashes (Vegas Moviestudio HD 11 Platinum)

AxelB wrote on 8/8/2011, 7:34 AM
When I render my approx. 20-minute film, it crashes my program (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 11) after approx. 9-15%.
My computer has 4GB of RAM memory and runs Windows 7 64 bit.
There is both video (AVCHD (. m2ts)) and images in the film. I have tested a variety of formats and 3D/2D, but nothing works. What should I do?
Please send answer as fast as possible because I would like to have the film ready in a few days.

What kind of images?
What size?
How many?

The pictures are in jpeg format and size of most are 4592x2576 There are so many pictures so I can not count them. But I think it might be around 10-40 images.

Have you applied the 64-bit fix? All versions of VMS need this fix to avoid crashes with AVCHD rendering. The files to fix are

VegasMovieStudioPE110.exe, VegasMovieStudioPE110k.dll
Sonymvd2pro_xp.dll, wmfplug4.dll

The problem is not with mixing stills & video; I do this a lot and have no troubles, even with really large still images.

How do you make 64-bit fix?

If you will not be cropping / zooming the images in Vegas, cut the dimensions in half (2296x1284). That will reduce their unpacked memory by 75%.

Whether you downsize or not, convert the images to PNG.

These batch actions are easily done in Irfanview. If it doesn't help, at least we have ruled out the images as the problem.

If it crashes at exactly the same spot every time, look at the media at that point. If eliminating it from the timeline solves the problem, you have isolated the source.

Hope this helps.

I have used the crop a few times in the film. But if I make it to png so will the movie wrong. So it's probably not a solution I will use. Birk said anything about the 64bit fix, anyone know how to do it? The English translation is perhaps a bit strange. But I can not so much English so I use Google Translate to translate.

The file names to fix are in my original post. It takes about 2 minutes to do them all.

Thanks. But I can only find two of the files.
Birk Binnard wrote on 8/9/2011, 9:34 AM
The other 2 are in the FileIO Plug-Ins folder. Look in compoundplug for one and wmfplug4 for the other one.

Thanks! But I could not find the files but tested and it worked anyway.
