Render error in Vegas 5b

Something new since installing Excalibur-3 and I don't know if it's related. An error message after rendering says:
"Warning: an error occurred while importing the EDL file TITLE-1.avi, the file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format."
The "Details" says: "Unable to parse line #16:"Ou".

This is my second try at a 10 second timeline. The avi file won't import into any Vegas project, but plays in Windows media player. Also, all the clips on the timeline vanish. But if I reopen the project without saving they come back. Any clues?

Correction. Now ALL the clips have disappeared. How do you restore from the bak file. The "undo" arrow is gray, and I can't find it in the "helpless" file.

If you do a search here, you will see that Vegas currently has a problem reading files with "TITLE" (all uppercase) in the name. This is where your problem lies. Your BAK file is in the same folder as the VEG file.
