Render for Vimeo/uTube - changed?

I *thought* that vimeo/you tube were expanding levels from studio to computer when they process uploads. I just tested this with a chip chart and it is not true anymore.

The levels range you upload is what you get when you download their processed video.

Do I remember correctly?

Hi - By "step from value to value" do you mean there should be vertical, thin rectangles for the shades or should it show a seamless transition from white to black?

(I have the narrow blocks...)

Thanks for narrowing it down, Rocky.
Chrome with Nvidia drivers on Vimeo (but not YT).
-- Nick Hope found adjustments in Nvidia, where the levels can be changed. I can't see it affecting just one browser.
-- I uninstalled Chrome when I found it took up 5x the space of Firefox. Can you right-click on the player screen and tell us what's in the back room? Jerry's tests with HTML5 all looked the same as what we're used to.
-- Are you giving Vimeo the Handbrake product in each case? You're not uploading DNxHD directly?

Whatever it is, it sounds like the 601/709 flag is being ignored somewhere in the particular chain.

I'm rendering out of vegas using the sony avc encoder as a test vehicle. faster than the HB route for short tests. "back room"? I get an html listing but I don't know what I'm looking for.

One more test in vimeo, flash vs. html5.

Flash player works correctly. HTML5 does not - levels are distinguishable 0-15 and 236-255.
