Render for Widescreen TV with Audio

We have a widescreen TV for an exhibition at a tradeshow where we intend to run instructional videos for our products at our booth. The TV plays the video directly from a USB flash drive. However, the video files we have are so low res that they don't fill the screen, and there is no full-screen option in the video player software on the TV.

I have been able to create a video file that fills the TV screen by rendering the video at Blu-Ray resolutions (best results at 1920x1080), but of course that knocks the audio out of the render. I don't have DVD Architect to create a separate synchronized audio stream, and the video won't be read from a disc anyway.

Is there any way to generate a video large enough to fill the TV screen that includes audio?

Have you tried the "Include Audio Stream" checkbox in your BD templates?
Or how about HDV?

I'm afraid HDV also doesn't fill the screen.

Regarding the "Include Audio Stream", however, I don't see this option. It seems I would have to customize a template for it (I'm using Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0), but when I do Project-->Render As, the "Custom" button is greyed out. Do you know of some other way I could access this option?

Thanks!

Are you sure you can't set your TV aspect so the HDV fills the screen?
No, custom render settings are not available in your version of Vegas.
AVCHD is another thing to try, but I don't know if it will play smoothly.

Good point--I'm not sure of that at all, actually. I'll have to go back and give it a try.

RE: AVCHD, the TV will only read MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 videos, so I think that would be beyond its capabilities.

Thanks again!

This would not happen to be a Sony KDLsize-EX500,400 would it? If so I have the same problem getting mpeg-2 files to play at full screen. My solution was to render out in Mainconcept (MPEG-2), 1920x1080x60i with stereo sound stream included which produces a file with an extension that slips my mind at the moment. I then rename the extension to .mpg. The tv takes it as a MPEG-2 file and fills the screen with a extremly nice picture. This seems like alot of extra effort to go thru on my part to get it to play in full screem, but its the only thing I can figure out. Also the file will be subject to the Fat32 4GB file limitations required by the USB port. I would certainly be interested to find out if anyone else has had this problem and resolutions.

Required by the PORT??? I think its the formatting of the DRIVE that gives you the 4 GB limitation. I understand there are ways to get around that 4 GB limit, but I've never tried them.

Yes, the USB port on that particular television requires a Fat32 formated flash drive therefore leaving you with the limitation...

As a matter of fact, yes, that is exactly what this TV is. Unfortunately, as covered above, my version of Vegas doesn't allow me to add audio streams to the Blu-Ray renders. It is definitely not too much work for us to go through, Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0 simply doesn't allow me to customize that option. Thank you so much for your input though--and how interesting that it is the same television.
