"render" or "make a movie"

I just shot a video in HD for the first time. When I brought it into Vegas P08 it did not run very well, so I "made a movie" into WMV, and that ran better.

Then I saw a feature to "render" the video. So my question is, what's the difference between rendering and making a movie?

Then I saw the different templates in the render mode and I would like to know the differences between them. 1-default template. 2-SVCD NTSC. 3- DVD NTSC.

Thanks.

If you want your video to be in HD then you have to use one of the BlueRay templates, most likely the 1080 60i. I use that most of the time and it looks great on my computer. The templates you mentioned are not HD.

Thanks RogerB1

I think I am going to stick with SD for now as it seems to be an easier way to go while I'm learning both my new camera and Vegas.

There is no difference between render and make movie. The results are identical. In fact, if you go to advanced in make movie you'll see the same dialog box that you see in render.

The template names usually describe what they are for. "SVCD" is what you would use to produce an SVCD, which is a way to put video content on a CD. DVD NTSC is used for producing an NTSC DVD. If you're going to be creating your DVD in DVD Architect then use the DVD Architect template.
