Render performance ~3x difference .mov avc vs .mp4 avc source

Hi, Vegas 13 user here.

I noticed that files which came from

  • After Effects - QuickTime .mov 1920x1080 20Mbsec

render out from Vegas by Mainconcept Avc best settings max bitrate 1920x1080 CPU only

~3x times faster than

  • .mp4 files AVC 1920x1080 10Mbsec

15 second clip results:

  • .mov - 1 minute 23 seconds
  • .mp4 avc - 3.09 sec
  • .mp4 avc +pan\crop - 3.29 sec

Is there any way to render avc same speed as qt.mov?

Hi, Vegas 13 user here, too.

Since the difference in render time is so great, this would be a perfect case where posting the two sample files would be very helpful. Others could replicate your experience and analyze the files directly. Please upload to a cloud share and post the link here.

My camera records AVC/PCM in a MOV wrapper. The GOP is short and there are only I and P frames. It previews well on the timeline. I'd look at the encoding methods for the two source files.

Do both of your files preview at the full frame rate at Best/Full?

Here are 2 files, 1 renders in 1.10, 2nd - 2.40.

Both on the same project, render settings, preview Best\Full, both resample disabled.

We need the actual source files. The Magix site encodes the file you upload.

"Is there any way to render avc same speed as qt.mov?"

1) Don't post media on this site unless you own or have license to use it.

2) To answer you original question: If the two files are identical in every way, they will render in ~ the same time to the same render template.

3) My i7-3770(k) results:

.......MOV .............MP4.........

4) My i7-6850(k) results:

.......MOV .............MP4.........

There will always be a difference in render times based on the different characteristics of the source files, but spending money on hardware makes the difference less profound and less annoying.
