Render Pipeline Usage: TWIXTOR GPU > Handbrake?

Grazie wrote on 1/4/2015, 10:52 PM
Will HandBrake make use of the GPU which I can activate from within TWIXTOR?

Is it:-

A] TWIXTOR+GPU >> HandBrake via Marco's Script>> Result FAST Render

or is it:-

B] TWIXTOR+GPU >> HandBrake via Marco's Script>> Result SLOW Render

. . .and yes, I know, I can test it and find out, but I was wanting to hear from those Render Gurus here what they would "expect" to see, have happen?

TIA

Grazie

If twixtor is set to use GPU then it will use GPU. Same for Vegas or anything that is an effect in the video stream regardless of what may happen after it. Rendering/compositing the video stream (frames) and encoding that stream of frames to a file or display on monitor are independent.

OK, some Real-World GPU tests I did with an almost 22 second clip using TWIXTOR6. The figures are Minutes:Seconds

GPU ON Render Time 1:51

GPU OFF Render Time 6:31

In fact, by the time the "GPU ON" render had finished, the "GPU OFF" session was little more than a quarter (27.75%) completed.

This shows several things. Topmost is that GPU really does have an advantageous effect, like 3.54 times faster!

GPU works and works well for my workflow.

I'm going to have to check this out again. I did a test a while back with Twixtor 5 and Twixtor 6 as 6 has GPU acceleration. I found Twixtor 6 rendered very slightly longer than 5..... Very strange

And Grazie, since you have posted your system specs we know your GPU is 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti - 2. I may need to upgrade my 550ti.

Checkout what the advantages of moving to 560 will get you.
