Render settings for optimzed HD->DVD

I have HD footage.

When rendering to MPEG using the DVDA preset the image is very inferior. It looks like you take some high res. image in Photoshop and saved it as JPEG/3 or something. Some "blurry" borders to details etc.

Can anyone recommend the settings to be used in Vegas to get the best possible MPG-file for DVD that comes as close to the original HD footage as possible? The render option is set to maximum quality but I cannot find anyting else to tune.

Looking at rental DVDs they show no such artifacts.

Thanks!

In Project Properties start by using the "HDV" template.
Then change:
- Field order to progressive
- Frame rate to either 50 (Double PAL) or 60 (Double NTSC) depending on which system you are going for
- Full-resolution render quality to "Best"
- Deinterlace method to "Interpolate"

Do NOT use any special color correction or "remove interlace flicker" on your media events (other than what you normally use for getting the preferred look, of course).

Now render using "Main Concept MPEG-2" and "DVD Architect PAL/NTSC Widescreen video stream".

I've tried this many, many times with footage from my HDR-FX1 camera and the results were always outstanding.
Good luck.
