Render times for VP12 vs VP13 - Huh?

rstrong wrote on 6/16/2014, 12:40 AM
I rendered the same project in VP12 and in VP13, non simultaneous of course. The project is 4 minutes long. The source are stills from my Canon 5D. I also tried this with all hdv clips and got the same result.
The project is rendered using the DVDA template 720x480 widescreen stream. I have GPU turned off in both versions.
The render time in VP12 is 6 minutes 33 sec. (two pass)
The render time in VP13 is 10 minutes, 3 sec. (two pass)
Wow, that's like more than 50% longer render times!
CPU meter for VP13 shows about 20% more usage during rendering.
What am I doing wrong?
Has anyone else seen this?

thanks,
robert

Source = 108 seconds of 1920x1080-23.97p

Render to DVD Architect 24p NTSC Widescreen video stream at the default settings.

Vegas 12 took 30 seconds

Vegas 13 took 41 seconds
