Thanks, PeterDuke. You make some good points, and I think I’ll start using PMB now. :)

joejon, I haven’t burned a Blu-Ray yet from the CX700 footage. But, I have burned a few from my SR1 footage, and I think the process will be the same. I use the MainConcept MPEG-2 template that is 1920x1080x60i, and AC3 for audio. I had some trouble using the Pro template for the audio (said I wasn’t authorized to use it or something), and was forced to use the Studio template for a while, but the Pro template seems to be working now.

As for waiting to upgrade or not, I don’t have a strong opinion. If version 9 does everything you need, why upgrade? I guess that if I had version 9, I’d wait to see if Sony adds a PS/28Mbps render template to version 10 or not. I am a new user who just bought version 10 a couple months ago, so if they introduce 60p 28Mbps AVCHD rendering as a new feature in version 11, I’m going to be pretty upset …

Sorry to necro this thread, but I thought that I should follow up on this since the release of 10.0d.

First, I would like to give a big "thank you" to Sony for giving us a 26Mbps render option for 1920x1080x60p video. The new AVC render template called "HD 1920x1080-60p" is the best option I have had for my edited CX700 video.

Ideally, I would like to save my edited video in the same or higher quality than that of the original, but this is a huge improvement over the previously available options. Here is a link to the MediaInfo from one of my clips. It was not edited. I just rendered the clip to the new template, and this is what I got.

As you can see, the video stream contains less data. The audio stream contains much less data, but I'm less concerned about that since I could render an audio stream separately and demux the video from this file. But, by golly, the video stream is 1920x1080x60p at 26Mbps, so I'm really happy to have this option.

Thanks Sony! I'd still like a less compressed video stream, and the same quality audio, but this is a HUGE step in the right direction.
