Better with a Commode 64 than a VIC-20. :)

I know this thread was a joke but the Com Amigas were way ahead of their time. IMS, they had video editting. I think they were the original "video toasters".

Hmmmmm. It would have to be very short videos. Discounting enormous rendering times, the 6510 processor can only address 128K of memory (that's K, not M). I belive the external bus architecture limits external storage to a max of 2MB. Even if the videos were 160x120 4 bit 12fps, that's still only enough for about 18 seconds. Even with cinepak you probably still wouldn't get over minute.

The 65816 processor in my old Apple //gs could handle a 30MB drive. Now we're talking some serious video!

Your right about the 128K addressing, at least natively, but the C128 could address up to 512K by using a paging trick (banks).

Im using a dual TRS80 from Radio Shack. I think it speeds up my renders by .0000000002 fps. Woot Woot!

i'm 100% sure of the vegas source code was made open source we'd have it running on amiga's & palm piolets.

Heck, it's happend to 3d games (running systems designed years before their release). Could see it happening to Vegas. :)

As an Amiga user people shouldn't knock what ground work was laid down. yes the toaster grew from the Amiga and was a pretty serious things. The Amiga was used a lot in graphics work, right before they vanished from the US radar Disney had gotten something like 100 of them. We first considered getting an amiga based NLE but went with D/Vision because it had more of a trach reocrd. Plau we went down to San Diego to see one NLE demo'd and it kept crashing. keep in mind this is when the video show in Burbnanjk was the Amiga users show and the big seel point was taking a laser disk of FireFox, intaking to an Amiga 4000 in real time and spitting back out near real time to a video wall.

This was also the year that Sunrize was demoing their Studio 16 audio mixing software. I still wish that was ported over the PC.

Burbnanjk?

Was that where the Soviet FireFox advanced fighter plane landed?

:O)

Cool movie as I recall.

And the Amiga was waaaay ahead of its time (and its competition). If the manufacturer had had a more daring vision, they could have eaten Apple for breakfast.

Wait for Abacus 7 if at all possible. I hear they will be adding a firewire port.

>>>Was that where the Soviet FireFox advanced fighter plane landed?<<<

Nah, that was some where behind the Orange Curtain. Burbnanjk in east of the Peoples Republic of Santa Monica.

Hmm...you know there is for sure a movie in here somewhere. You can tell how tired I am by how many spelling errors I make.

Actually no, that is just the Vodkia talking. Here on the Eastern front is is cold waiting for the noreaster that is expected in about 10 or so hours. next time I will learn to keep my mouth shut in copyright threads least I be banished to bizzaro land again.
