Hi,
When rendering MPEG files for PAL DVD (using the default Vegas 4.0 template) the rendered video stream in the file is unclear or unsharp (almost as if a 'soften' effect has been applied to the video stream). Why is this?
The source material is DV and the project settings are set to match i.e. PAL DV. No resizing or any other effect is being applied to the original source. Also the video stream in the original captured .AVI file is clear and crisp so the problem definately has something to do with the rendering process.
After much experimentation is appears that this problem has something to do with deinterlacing i.e. if no deinterlace method is selected or 'progressive only' is used the images seem to be much clearer and crisper. Is this prossible and if so why?
If this is indeed the problem what happens when you render a file using 'progessive only' and then play it back from a set top DVD player?
