Rendered MPEG movies out of sync..

Hello, just lately when I've rendered mpeg movies, either VCD compatible MPEG1, or DVD compatible MPEG2. They all play back with the audio out of sync with the video. Is there a problem with the Ligos codec? Maybe there's a way of replacing this with another codec that works properly. They won't play properly on other machines either. It really is quite annoying. I've been attempting to create a video cd of my video clip to send to friends overseas, but still haven't been able to get a decent MPEG that works. The same happens if I render using Batch Converter. I've adjusted all the settings aswell. Any ideas?

The best suggestion I can give you is to render your MPEG using the TsunamiMpegEncoder (commonly known as TMPGEnc). It is free and you can find it here:
http://www.tmpgenc.com/e_main.html

It doesn't plug directly into Vegas so you'll have to render to a different format first. I usually render to DV format and then open up the file in TMPGEnc. It looks a little complicated, but if you load the standard settings for VCD or DVD you'll be fine. The encoder is excellent (much much better than Ligos) and I've played back my files on other PC's with no problems.

Make sure you have DVD software installed with a DVD decoder when you are trying to play back your files as well. The best resource I've found for making working VCDs/DVDs is here:

Check out the HOW-TO sections. Very informative site.

Great, thank you. I'll download that and give it a try.

I gave it a try, and yes it works brilliantly. Thanks once again for the suggestion. The 2 pass VBR encoding worked really well. None of the preset templates were any good. Well, a couple I opened. They were set to a size of 480x480, and this couldn't be changed.
