What if you use a different render template?

This is causing a new problem. I switched from a MainConcept AVC/AAC to a Sony AVC/MVC and the Internet 1080 customized pre-set that I have used to successfully output all of my SV10 projects (it turns out the MainConcept AVC/AAC was the template that I was using previously and thus causing the glitches). Now, every time I hit Render, SV12 CRASHES.

It seems that Vegas is not always backwards compatible as to rendering templates.
Try to open the wanted template in your V10 and then build the same template in V12 from a similar standard template and save it under another name.

Then, just to be really sure, compare all settings in the 2 templates and correct possible errors.
There can be errors - even under tabs that you not change normally like Project and System.

Worked perfectly here - hope it works for you too.

SOLUTION FOUND!

The Sony AVC/MVC presets in SV10 included all of their Internet presets. Now in SV12, these have been moved into the MainConcept AVC/AAC presets. The only “Internet” options showing up under Sony AVC/MVC are the ones that I created in SV10. I already created a new Internet preset from scratch for Vegas 12 two days ago back when I thought I was using the same template. This was the setting that was causing my glitches!

So what got rid of my glitches? Changing one thing. Under “Encode Mode” it was set to “Render using CPU only”. I changed it to “Render using OpenCL if available” and my glitches have gone away.

Thank you all of your time and advice and MERRY CHRISTMAS.
