It sounds likely that you've over-compressed it.
Depending on the codec you're using, turn up the bit-rate or quality setting.

Alternately, it could be because your source-material has a significantly different resolution than your project output. The re-scaling of the source-material may blur it.
Check the resolution, frame-rate, aspect ratio, etc, of your source material and your project settings.

thank you for your reply....how do change and/or what is the bit-rate and what would you suggest for that.....i have the quality setting at "best"...

what is re-scalling of the source-material....i am using photos from someone and they had to modify them as they were way to large...

so how do i check the resolution, frame-rate, aspect ratio of my source material.....

Need more information. What are you rendering as and what are the settings.(Both project settings and render settings) What version of Vegas are you using?

where do i find the project settings

i am using vegas movie studio 9

VBR 90? As in 90Kbps? Thats way way awfully way low! Probably 900Kbps would be about as low as you'd want. Choose something in the 1Mbps range. If you click the [Custom] button you can enter any bitrate you want; you aren't limited to Vegas' premade templates.
