rendered video is inserted to the project and I don't want that

when I render a video the resulting video creates new tracks and is inserted at the beginning of the project. This behavior started a couple of versions ago and I've been working around it.

I've looked around preferences to find the box to unclick to stop this, but I haven't found it.

For every render I have to delete the resulting new tracks. It is a PITA.

thanks in advance

What program are you talking about, Vegaspro?

David-Thiel wrote on 2/12/2025, 1:34 PM

yes, Pro 22. But Vegas Pro started doing this a couple of versions ago. I've gotten to the point where it finally motivated me to find an answer. I was wrong, it doesn't put it at the beginning of the project, it creates tracks and inserts it above the rendered region. Tracks 1&2 didn't exist before the render.

How are you rendering? Sounds like you're choosing Tools - Render to New Track instead of File - Render As.

Indeed only the render to new track options produces a new video/audio track, not the regular file render option. Maybe you should check your workflow.

ah, that is it.I use stream deck to reduce mousing around to a minimum. I mistakenly pcked "RendertoNew'. If it had said 'RenderToNewTrack' I don't think I would have picked that. What I want is File.RenderAs which has not hot key by default. Yup, my mistake and that's great, I can fix that. Thank both of you for pointing it out.

RenderAs doesn't have a hot key but a own icon on the toolbar....
