Renderer keeps freezing up

Hello everyone,

Every time I try to render long movies (say 2 hours or more), the renderer stops working after a certain amount of time and the software freezes up. I have to use the Task Manager and do multiple request for the task to be killed.

I have tried various codex, nothing seems to work. I have tried different drives. same issue.

I started having the problem with my previous configuration (Ryzen 7 1700, 16 Gb 2400 MHz Ram). I recently upgraded the computer by switching the CPU and RAM and kept the rest of the computer as it was. The new CPU is a Ryzen 7 2700 and 32 Gb 3200 MHz ram,

It looks like the video rendered when the software crashes is around 2.5 Gb when it happens. I think it might be an issue with that... but I am not sure. Are there file size restrictions in certain situations? I have had files of over 10 Gb with no issues before.

I am using Vegas Studio Platinum 14

Windows 10 Professional

Computer is Ryzen 7 2700 @ 4 GHz (I slowed it down to 3.9 GHz and it made no difference)
2 X 16 Gb 3200 MHz ram running at 3200 MHz with standard settings
OS is on a M.2 SSD Drive
I have 3 X 3 TB HDs and a 2 TB backup HD
Video card is an NVidia 970 with 4 Gb of ram

No idea how to solve this. Does anyone have any idea?

How are they formatted and which is the render-to disc?

I tried various things.

What I want is 1920 X 1080 @ 29.970 FPS

I tried to render in various resolutions and framerates using MainConcept AVC/AAC Codec.

This is the codec I use all the time and it works well for shorter videos (15-30 mins). But when I try to do long ones say over an hour. It keeps freezing.

I think this is the best codec for youtube videos unless I am mistaken.
