Rendering 16:9 videos for the iPod -- 640x360

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0b.

I'm trying to render my 16:9 video for the iPod. The MainConcept option locks you to 640x480 (or something smaller), and the Sony AVC option doesn't work with the iPod.

All these recent-generation iPods I'm trying advertise the ability to run video as high as 640x480, so that isn't the issue.

Any ideas? This issue has brought me much frustration and if I can't figure it out I'm going to have to find another video editing program.

For now I'm re-rendering the videos in the latest snapshop of HandBrake to get it to work.

I also use Handbrake to convert my mpg files to iPod format (video from my TiVo).

The file extension Sony AVC tempate creates is .mp4, right? Try changing the file extension to .m4v and see if it works. I found that when I first started converting video to iPod, I had to change the file extension from .mp4 to .m4v in order for iTunes to import it properly. I have Handbrake use that file extension in the filename and never have a problem.

Use the baseline MP4/AAC profile wiht Sony AVC, and that will play on the iPod fine. Main Concept won't let you customize its encoder on Platinum, but SonyAVC will.
