Rendering 4k in Vegas Pro 13

swardet wrote on 8/16/2018, 6:42 AM

Am a long time SVP user, and have recently acquired a 4K camera.

When I shoot in 4k, I can drag and drop the footage in, and SVP recognizes it as 4k (3840x 2160). Also, if I want to set the environment up manually, there are three options for 4k in the template drop down in project video properties.

QUESTION:
However, in "render" there are no native 4k template options. Ideas? Bueller? Bueller?

Try customising one?

My question asked "native 4k template." I have customized render templates to coincide with 4k res, however, I'd rather the folks that work on Vegas Pro create templates with the best settings that I can use.

Wondering, is there a template "plug-in" or add-in or download somewhere for VP 13? Bueller? Bueller? Or is the stock answer to upgrade to the latest version(s) of SVP?

I imagine the stock answer would indeed be to upgrade to the latest version, as VP15 does have native 4K templates... That said as VP16 will be out soon if you're considering upgrading it may be worth waiting for that to land (or taking advantage of the "2-for-1" upgrade offer at the moment - buy VP15 and get free upgrade to VP16 when it's released). I do realise that a lot of people still like VP13 better for stability etc. but I'm one of the lucky ones who is having very few problems in VP15 😉.

I guess Vegasaur or VASST Ultimate S Pro add-ons for VP13 might have additional 4K render presets, but it looks more like they can just use the existing presets and offer additional batch rendering, or post-render actions rather than what you're after. That said, I've not used them, so it might be worth a quick look to see if they help.

Stock tenplates are good but not optimized. The get you there and are meant to work on all systems with all footage, sort of.
